Carlton host Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night in what promises to be an insufferable Mick Malthouse love-in. Let’s hope his former charges at Collingwood stop the love-in extending too far past the first bounce.
The Pies have won 8 of the past 10 meetings between the two teams including the last five and have been quietly going about their business so far this season to get to a 3 and 1 record.
The key stats say Essendon should have been a lot closer at the finish than they were to Collingwood on Anzacs Day but the Pies got the job done.
Carlton have been poor for the most part in 2015, seemingly unable to hold their form for more than a couple of quarters per match. Their win against the Saints in round four should be taken in the context of St Kilda being the worst team in the competition.
I like Collingwood at the -10.5 line.
The unders also looks like a fair bet with Collingwood 13/26 at night since 2012 and 8/16 coming off a 6 day break. Carlton don’t normally suggest an obvious unders bet but they too come off a short break and are 7/12 since 2012.
