Carlton come into this match on the back of two defeats while Essendon will have had a stress free build up to this fixture after their brilliant victory (for those of us who were on at close to 5/1) over reigning champs Hawthorn in round 2.
While the Bombers should take great confidence from the way they’ve started this campaign we should expect a degree of mental let down after the euphoric way the match against the Hawks ended last week.
Carlton, having this week admitted they were in the process of rebuilding, could be expected to play with a bit more determination than we’ve seen from them so far in 2015. They have actually led after the first period in both of their games only to fall away badly as the matches have progressed.
I can see this match being a lot closer than the current odds suggest.
