The Etihad roof will be closed for this meeting of the Bombers and the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
The Bombers looked like the team of the first 3 rounds in the first quarter of the Anzac Day game when they led by 34 to 3 against the in-form Pies. It all went tits up then though and they lost the next 2 quarters by a combined 49 points.
They will be relieved to bring ruckman Tom Bellchambers back into the fold and his battle with Bulldogs ruck Will Minson should be good to watch, while Bellchambers is also a weapon up front if needed. The Dons also bring back experienced midfield duo Brendon Goddard and Heath Hocking which should give them the edge in this match.
The total points line is set at 184.5 and is on the high side due to the last four meetings between the 2 teams going over the set number.
There are, however, good reasons to support this game going under that total.
The average points scored at Etihad Stadium in 2014 is 173.28 and the total has gone under 11 times and over 3 times in with 9 under and 3 over with the roof closed.
Essendon are 21/29 over/under going back to the start of 2012, 14/25 in Victoria, 10/18 in night games and 9/14 at Etihad and 18/20 off a 7 day + break.
The Bulldogs are 24/26 over/under, 18/17 in Victoria, 3/8 at night, 16/15 at Etihad and 4/10 off a 6 day break.
