We should have a cracker to start AFL round 9 with Hawthorn taking on Sydney at the MCG but there’s no bet there for me. I lean towards the Swans at +12.5 but an average MCG score of 77 in their six matches since 2014 is uninspiring against an average of 111 for their opponents at the same venue.
Collingwood vs Geelong is a no bet affair too with Collingwood too inconsistent to attempt to call with any confidence.
The same can be said of the Suns against the Crows. Adelaide should blow the hapless Suns away but their 12/14 record away from Adelaide Oval since 2014 says it all.
Port Adelaide need to beat West Coast at home but can they be trusted to do so? No.
Can we trust West Coast to cover a 4 goal handicap away from Perth? No.
Move along. Nothing to see here.
North Melbourne struggled past the rag tag bunch of misfits in Essendon guernseys on Saturday to preserve their unbeaten record in 2016 and move to 8/0.
I’m predicting a mid season slump approaching for North however as to my eye they’ve gone slightly off the boil over the last three weeks.
North’s next seven matches are tough:
Carlton @ Etihad
Swans @ SCG
Tigers @ Blundstones
Cats @ Etihad
Hawks @ Etihad
Crows @ Adelaide Oval
Eagles @ Domain
I’m looking for the slump to start on Saturday when North play Carlton at their shared home of Etihad stadium as the Blues are actually looking like a team under the guidance of Brendan Bolton. They lost their opening four games but have done really well to win their last four.
1 unit Carlton +30.5 at $1.92 with
Richmond go to Perth to take on the 0/8 Fremantle Dockers and their win against the Swans last week means they now go on a winning run doesn’t it? Let’s hope so because they look great value to win this at $2.0 with
Melbourne were not disgraced against the Bulldogs in round 8 and they should find things considerably easier against the Lions on Sunday and I like them to cover the -30.5 line with at $1.92
GWS against the Bulldogs looks like one to watch rather than one to bet on and i’ll be doing just that whereas St Kilda against Essendon just looks like one to miss altogether.
