GWS are favourites to win a match for what I make to be the second time in their short history. They were 20.5 point favourites to beat Melbourne in round 3 last year and they duly covered the spread, obliging by 32 points.
GWS, as suggested by our bet recommendation of them to make the finals, are a team on the up. They won six times in 2014 and also lost four times by 8 points or fewer.
They have strengthened very sensibly in the offseason, picking up Ryan Griffen and Joel Patfull who, along with Heath Shaw and Shane Mumford, give the side a strong and experienced spine that should stand them in good stead.
St Kilda won four times in 2014 but just once in the final 17 rounds. From round 7 on they lost 15 times – the only win being against a 3rd rate Freo side, a result which should be totally discounted – by an average margin of 63 points.
