English Soccer: Arsenal v Man Utd

There are always plenty of question marks over player fitness and team selection in the games after the International break and this weekend is no exception.

Man Utd lost Daley Blind to injury and with doubts over Phil Jones and Chris Smalling they could end up looking very inexperienced through the middle if they have to play McNair, Thorpe or Blackett.

Arsenal have their problems too with Danny Welbeck limping off midweek although we could see the return of Olivier Giroud at some point in the 90 minutes.

  • Arsenal have not been beaten in their last 23 EPL matches at the Emirates

  • Man Utd have not won away from home this season

  • Man Utd have scored 1 goal in their last 5 matches away against teams in the top 6 (D4, L1).

  • Arsenal have only failed to score once this season, away at Chelsea.

  • Man Utd have won just one of their last 12 against teams in the top 6.

  • Arsenal have played 7 at home since the start of last season against the top 6 and have won 3, drawn 4 and lost none.

I think Arsenal will be too strong for Man Utd at the Emirates and think there is some value in the ‘to win to nil’ market.
