The PGA Tour rolls on to Texas for a couple of weeks starting at the Colonial Country Club.

The winning formula here – as illustrated by the list of last 10 winners below – is ball strikers over big hitters and players with plenty of experience.

There have been lots of winners in their 40’s which suggests the winner will need to carefully work his way around the course rather than simply shoot at every pin.

Chris Kirk led going into the final round of the Players Championship and he looks to be coming into form.

His form here is solid with figures of 16, 5, 35, 14 and he should go well this week.

Ryan Palmer shot a 61 in practice this week and he loves it here with two top 5’s in the last three years. His recent form reads 6, 33, 17 with a MC at the Players. I think he’ll be there or thereabouts this week.

Paul Casey plays here rather than at the BMW, the flagship event of the PGA Tour, so his motivation is not in doubt. He is in sizzling form with three top 10’s in his last four starts and finished 13th here in 2010.

Aussies generally play well in Texas as they have grown up playing in windy conditions and John Senden looks to have the game for Colonial. He has a 5th and an 8th placed finish in his last two starts and also has the same finishes in his last four starts at this track.
