Golf: The OHL Classic at Mayakoba

The PGA Tour moves on to Mexico for the OHL Classic at El Camaleon. The course is an easy par 71 of just under 7,000 yards with paspalum greens of an average size.

A glance at recent winners suggests that accuracy off the tee is what we are looking for here and with -21 the winning score in 2013 the ability to nail plenty of birdies will be vital.

The Sony Open and recent CIMB Classic could provide links too with the latter sharing the same paspalum greens and there being a solid crossover of good performances here and at the Sony Open.

Mark Wilson won this event in 2009 and his current form suggests he will contend again this week in his first event as a 40 year old. His last eight rounds have been under par and also won the Sony Open in 2011.

John Huh is another previous winner of this event in 2011 and he looks to be running into a bit of good form. He ranked 8th in driving accuracy last week and 44th in driving distance. He also putted well, ranking 8th in strokes gained putting.

Brian Stuard is hard to ignore here with two second place finishes at this event. He showed his best form this season in his last start two weeks ago with a 13th placed finish in the CIMB Classic where the same paspalum grass greens are in use.
