Likeable Englishman Andy Sullivan won the Portugal Masters last year by an incredible nine shots and the fact that he was such a runaway winner tells us something of the usual depth of field at this event. Another indicator is that both Thomas Pieters and Alex Noren are priced at just $8.
Both could win obviously but at those odds we just have to look elsewhere for a bit of value.
First up for our tips is Thongchai Jaidee. He’s been in solid form recording two top 10’s in his last three outings and has finished inside the top 25 in 5 of his 7 visits to the course.

Next up is Nicolas Colsaerts who has made an eye catching return to form in 2016 with a string of made cuts. He should relish the short par 4’s at this course and his runner up finish in 2014 bodes well for him this week. he will have targeted this event and one that should suit him and i like his chances.

Our final pick is young Swede Joakim Lagergren. His recent tournaments have produced finishes of 5th at the Made in Denmark, 4th at the Alfred Dunhill Links and a tied 18th at last week’s British Masters. The 24 yr old won three times on the Nordic Tour and also won on the Challenge Tour before graduating to the European Tour. He flies under the radar here but can be there or thereabouts on Sunday.
