We’re going to the PGA Tour this week as the European Tour’s Joburg Open will probably go to one of the shorter priced locals.
The Honda Classic is played at the Champions Course at PGA National and i’m hoping this ultra tough course will throw up a surprise result, as it has several times in recent years with Pod Harrington, Michael Thompson and Russell Henley all victorious at Longshot odds.
We’re going for two players that relish a tough test.
Michael Thompson won this event in 2013 at odds of around $301. He is always worth considering when conditions are at their most challenging, as illustrated by his leading the USOPEN for a long way a few years back.

The square – headed and short – legged Swede, David Lingmerth, finished 8th here in 2014 and, like Thompson, he loves a severe test. He finished inside the top 20 in both of his USOPEN appearances and I can see him grinding out a top 10 here.
0.5 units win at $170 on (currently $170 available at those odds)
1 unit top 10 at $11 with
A shout out to a player not quite in the Longshot odds range…Danny Willett‘s game should be well suited to this track and he looks primed to hit top form. This event has been won by debutants – including Daniel Berger last year – and Willett of course won the Masters on his first attempt. He’s $95 on Betfair and this is a solid bet.
