The FedEx Cup comes to its conclusion at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia and the eventual winner will take a home a billion dollars… or something like that.
East Lake is a tough par 70 track, lengthened in 2008 to over 7,300 yards. There are just the two par fives with the short 15th one that all players should be looking to give themselves a good eagle chance on.
Accuracy off the tee and hitting greens in regulation are the keys here. Last year Henrik Stenson was ranked 3rd in driving accuracy and and 1st in GIR.

Billy Horschel won last week after a tied for 2nd the week before and the perceived wisdom in golf punting circles is to avoid backing the previous week’s winner as they will likely suffer a mental let down, or an ‘after the lord mayor’s show’ effect.
Billy Horschel could be the type of player to buck the trend, however, and with $10,000,000 on offer and a break to look forward too (he’s not in the US Ryder Cup team) I’m happy to back him this week, especially with a 7th placed finish in this event last year and with a GIR ranking of 4 and a driving accuracy ranking of 19.
Yes, it’s Baldy Billy Haas. Ranked 9th in GIR and we haven’t backed him for two weeks and i’m getting withdrawal symptoms – deposit symptoms more like, when it’s come to backing him in 2014. Won this in 2011.
Webb Simpson’s last three finishes at this event read 22, 5 and 4 so he’s got a nice progressive profile here. Two of his last four opening rounds have been 64 and 66 and we’re going to use his propensity for a fast start in our betting strategy this week.
We are going to back Simpson with the view to laying him back for profit after round 1.
