Just the three matches this weekend in the National League and we have bets in two of them. It would have been three had Southport not been heavily backed from $4.90 into $3.75 overnight. If they drift out to $4.5 then get on them too.
Torquay vs Wrexham
Torquay have drifted out to $5.25with from $4.33 and it’s hard to see why, despite them having the worst home record in the division. They’ve improved since appointing club legend Kevin Nicholson as manager without results really showing this yet. Draws away at Woking and at home to Grimsby recently could both have been wins with a bit more luck – I was at both games as a Torquay fan on a visit to the UK.
Torquay have just signed two loan players, 18 yr old forward Andre Wright from West Brom and midfielder Adam Verma from Kidderminster, joining Achille Campion who also arrived on loan last week from Port Vale. All should be a serious improvement on the players they should replace against Wrexham.
Wrexham have won two of their last three games and drew the other but looking a little further back shows those two wins are their only victories in their last 8, home and away. Their away form has only been average, sitting 13th in the away table with 3 wins, one draw and 5 losses.
Guiseley vs Barrow
Guiseley have also drifted markedly in the betting, from $2.63 to $3.05 with and considering I backed them at the former price I should probably have a bit more on at the latter.
The long and the short of assessing this match is that there isn’t a lot between these sides and they are in similar veins of form.
Barrow are undoubtedly priced more on their home form where they have won 5 of their 9 fixtures but they have taken a few beatings on their travels, losing 7 from 10 conceding 5 once and 4 three times in the process.
