Melbourne vs North Queensland
It shapes up to be an epic big dance with the experienced and skillful Melbourne Storm up against the pure determination and hunger of the North Queensland Cowboys. The first time in the history of the NRL where two sides placed 1st and 8th will battle it out for the premiership.
The Storm Big 3 will be playing their final game together in purple with halfback Cooper Cronk departing the club in what could be a fairytale finish with Tohu Harris, Jordan McLean and Slade Griffin also playing their last games for the club.
For the Cowboys, they’ve made it this far. No Thurston, no Scott. Michael Morgan and Jason Taumalolo have played out of their skins (with great contributions from the rest of the playing group) and only one team stands in their way of one of the greatest premiership wins against the odds.
It’s hard to look past the Storm here with all things considered but grand finals have a habit of producing tighter contests and the Cowboys are the more recent side to take out a premiership. Last season’s grand final would’ve hurt the Storm and they would be more hungry this time around. I think the Cowboys can keep it close and if the Storm struggle to come out of the blocks like they did against the Broncos last week, the Cowboys may have enough quality to punish them for it.
