An intriguing clash looms on Monday night, when the Penrith Panthers host the North Queensland Cowboys.
The Cowboys have surged up the ladder in recent weeks and loom as a real premiership threat, whilst the panthers have overcome a series of injuries to maintain their place in the Top 4.
Penrith have won 6 of the past 11 clashes with the Cowboys at this ground, however they have lost their last 4 matches against their opponents at all venues.
High scoring has also been the norm, with 8 of the past 9 clashes here tallying 40pts or more.
The Panthers have an excellent record at home this season, winning 7 of their 8 matches played, whilst the Cowboys appear to have broken their away hoodoo having won their past 2 on the road.
Monday night has also been kind to the home side, with Penrith victorious in 7 of their last 8 at home.
Not so encouraging for the Cowboys is the fact they have lost their past 4 clashes away from home on a Monday night, so they will be looking to buck this trend here.
This shapes as a fascinating encounter and at this stage it’s difficult to split the two sides.
Rain is forecast all weekend in Sydney, and this ground can become heavy very quickly, so if the predicted rain arrives then we could be in for an extremely close game throughout.
