The dreaded Wooden Spoon looms for the loser of this Sunday afternoon clash between the Cronulla Sharks and the Canberra Raiders, in what has been a horror season for both.
The Sharks hold the advantage having won 9 of the past 14 clashes at home against the Raiders, as well as 17 of 29 at all venues.
More recently the Sharks have won 3 of the past 5 clashes at all venues, with all 5 of these meetings registering 40pts or more.
Canberra have a woeful record against Sydney teams this year having won just 1 of 10 clashes this year, whilst they have also lost 9 of their past 10 matches overall.
This game looks harder to pick than a broken nose, with my enthusiasm for a high scoring game unfortunately dampened by the predicted heavy Shark park surface.
Thankfully I’ll be at a buck’s party so won’t have to torture myself by watching it, but for the record I’ll take either side to get home in a close one.
