New Zealand vs Brisbane
The Warriors will be out for back to back home victories when they host the Brisbane Broncos at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
New Zealand have an imposing record at this ground, having won 6 of the past 7 clashes here against the Broncos, as well as 8 of the past 10 clashes against all opponents.
Brisbane have also won just 1 of their last 7 away clashes, that being to the lowly ranked Sharks, so they will need to improve if they are to match it with the home side.
One thing in the visitors favour is the loss of fullback Sam Tomkins for the Warriors. They look a different side with him at the back, and no doubt the Broncos will look to target his inexperienced replacement.
Recent clashes here have been quite low scoring, with 6 of the past 7 clashes failing to surpass 40pts, so this further complicates what appears to be a tricky match to call, so for that reason I’ll sit on the fence and go with the Tri Bet.
Verdict: Tri Bet Either Team to win by 6.5 Points or Less at $2.90 with
Roosters vs Canberra
Canberra face a monumental task if they are to overcome the Roosters on Sunday afternoon at Allianz Stadium.
The Raiders have lost 15 of the past 16 clashes here against the Roosters, and have just one victory here since 1999.
The Roosters have also won 7 of their past 8 clashes here against all opponents, with their sole loss being by a single point.
8 of the past 10 clashes between these two here have had a winning margin of 13+, so given where they sit respectively on the competition ladder, one would suspect the visitors are in for a long afternoon.
On paper this looks like a space job, however the Roosters were involved in a very physical encounter on Monday night, so that may have taken a bit out of them and thus affect their performance at the back end of this one.
Regardless I couldn’t possibly be on Canberra with stolen money, so it’s the home side all the way for me in this one.
Verdict: Roosters 13+ at $1.74 with
