Souths vs Roosters

Arguably the two most impressive sides from Round 1 meet in a grudge match at ANZ Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Rabbitohs were clinical in disposing of the Broncos, whilst the same could also be said in the Roosters victory over the Cowboys.

The Roosters have enjoyed success against their rivals at this ground in recent times, having won 6 of the past 10 matches played here.

Despite both sides focus on defence, 12 of the past 16 clashes between the two have returned 40 points or more, so the current quote offered certainly appeals and looks to be a value play in a game where I would expect plenty of ball movement.

Verdict: Total Match Points Over 37.5 at $1.84 with Screenshot 2014-05-21 12.49.05

Canberra vs NZ Warriors

The Raiders will be looking to make it 2 from 2 when they host the NZ Warriors at Canberra Stadium on Sunday evening.

Canberra have won 9 of the past 11 clashes here against their opponents, who have won just once here since 2002.

The Warriors have also lost 5 of their past 6 away clashes, and are on back to back road trips here which doesn’t bode well.

That being said NZ did manage to put 50pts on the Raiders twice last year in away matches, and there’s no doubt in my mind they possess more upside of the two.

5 of the past 6 clashes at all venues have tallied 44 points or more, with 4 of those games registering 60+ points, so I get the feeling that we could be in for an entertaining evening.

As always it’s impossible to know which Warriors side will turn up, but with fullback Sam Tomkins set to return I’m going to take a punt that they arrive here willing and ready to play, so for that reason I’ll tip them to win impressively and open their 2015 account.

Verdict: Warriors -1.5 at $1.93 with Screenshot 2014-05-07 13.02.14
