 Summary:

One of the success stories of 2013 turning a 5 and 17 record from 2012 into a 12 and 10 record last year.

Ken Hinkley was named AFL Coaches Association coach of the year and his obvious influence plus Travis Boak’s decision to stay with the club after being so publicly courted by Geelong during the last off-season were key in the team’s turnaround of fortunes.

Chad Wingard had a brilliant second season and his continued progression, which will be harder this season as a marked man, along with the form of Boak and veteran Kane Cornes will be vital if Port are to make the finals for the 2nd consecutive season.

Justin Westhoff also found a level of consistency that had been lacking in the previous few seasons and when he’s playing well he appears to inspire the team as a whole.

Their draw is a fair one and as befitting a team that looks to be on the cusp of the finals have a host of even looking matches throughout the 2014 season.

With the 2013 playing group staying together I would rather be with them to finish inside the top 8 than against them so the $2.4 with Sportsbet and IASbet makes some appeal
