Golf: World Super 6 Perth

Following on from the mixed event in Victoria last week we have the World Super 6 from Perth which features two cuts at 36 and 54 holes then a 6 hole head to head match play format to find the winner.

The match play element makes this a bit of a lottery towards the end so we will concentrate on the 54 hole and 1st round leader markets for betting purposes.

Lake Karrinyup Country Club is a par 72 layout at 7,143 yards and typically for an Australian event the wind will play a  big part if it gets up.

Our first bet is on Irishman Paul Dunne who was in contention until Sunday last week and looks ready to contend this week. I didn’t put him up last week as I wasn’t convinced by his current form but opening rounds of 69 and 66 last week has convinced me.

We backed Scott Hend last week and he was there or thereabouts until he shot a 79 in gale force winds on Saturday. We can forget that round.

You never quite know what you’re going to get from Callum Shinkwin but what we do know is that his best is very good. Last week he shot 64, 73, 66, 72 which just about sums him up.

In some ways he reminds me of tournament favourite Thomas Pieters, extremely talented but with a suspect temperament.

It’s sad to see Geoff Ogilvy struggling to make cuts in poor fields and equally disappointing to see him not follow up an opening round of 66 last week. All that said, however, he looks overpriced this week and we’ll take a chance on him returning to some sort of form.

James Nitties is a player I thought may make huge waves on the PGA Tour at one point but his career has only gone one way over the past five years or so. It’s a shame as he seems like a cracking bloke. Being a good bloke wins you nothing however, ask Sergio and Patrick Reed. Nitties finished 2nd here in 2017 though and shot a stunning 64 in round 1 last week. He has an early tee time this week and is playing with his mate Nick Flanagan.
