It wasn’t a good idea to have one eye on the live feed of scores for our Tuesday night bets while watching Real Madrid v Liverpool with the other. Four of the five went down to very early goals and were never to recover, and the other (Charlton) conceded first later on.
Hope extinguished that early can leave you feeling hard done by, and indeed I do. Brentford proved right the following night though thank God, with a runaway win at Nottingham Forest which restored a chunk of our fruitless outlay the previous night.
A couple of the same teams backed and opposed then feature again.
Brighton rode their luck in defending a first minute goal to beat Wigan on Tuesday. Blackburn earned a two goal lead against 11 men at Millwall, and then conceded two against ten, but we’ll call that brief spell an aberration during an otherwise good spell of form. Brighton v Blackburn Blackburn at $3.79 with
Fulham v Huddersfield Huddersfield remain good value on the road, and though Fulham are now playing with confidence and scoring goals, they’ve conceded too many for Huddersfield to be as big as $3.7 with
Millwall v Brentford This will be a hard game for all involved, and there will probably be goals at both ends. Brentford to win at $3.6 with looks the bet though.
Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham Wednesday remain unconvincing at Hillsborough and were out of sorts capitulating against the excellent Bournemouth in the week. Meanwhile, Rotherham were taking a hiding down at Reading, with an uncharacteristic capitulation after a promising start. Expect both to try harder and a combative match between neighbours. Take Rotherham to win it at $3.5 with
