Gold Coast vs Penrith

Gold Coast will be looking to take advantage of the mounting injury crisis at Penrith when they clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers go into this game without their first choice halves and centre pairings, so they will need all their resilience if they are to come away with a result here.

The Panthers have won 3 of the 5 clashes here with the Titans, as well as 5 of the past 6 matches at all venues, including a 40-0 demolition earlier this season.

4 of the 5 clashes here have tallied 50pts or more, so provided conditions are dry we could be in for an exciting afternoon.

Given the injury toll of their opponents, Gold Coast really should be winning this game, however their record of just 1 win here from their past 12 matches is certainly far from encouraging.

North Qld vs New Zealand

After winning 3 straight the Cowboys are the form team of the competition, and they will be looking to continue their rise up the ladder when they host the struggling Warriors.

Despite a 20-16 loss here last year, the Cowboys have won and covered 8 of the past 9 clashes here with the Warriors, and combined with New Zealand’s poor away record a repeat showing would not surprise.

4 of the last 5 matches here have recorded 40pts or more, and with Johnathan Thurston in sublime form, the warriors could be in for a long night.

Verdict: North Qld -8.5 at $1.93 with Screenshot 2014-05-03 13.10.10

Melbourne vs Roosters

In a clash of the heavyweights, the Roosters travel to AAMI Park to take on the in-form Melbourne Storm on Saturday night.

Melbourne have won 7 of the past 9 clashes here with the Roosters, with 4 of the past 5 clashes recording 42pts or more.

Interestingly 9 of the past 10 encounters here have had a winning margin of 13+, so despite this looking a close match it may pay to be wary of a potential blowout.

One thing that is somewhat alarming is the 8 man bench named for Melbourne, which to me implies there are a couple of blokes in doubt or carrying injuries, so for this reason I’ll lean slightly towards the Roosters in what should be a great clash.

Verdict: Roosters Win at $1.72 with Screenshot 2014-05-03 15.52.18
