Carlton vs Richmond
The 2015 season kicks off on Thursday night at the MCG with Carlton taking on Richmond.
Richmond won 9 of their last 10 matches in 2014 and it will be interesting to see if they can carry that dominant form over to this season. They’ll certainly be looking to avoid the awful start they had last year.
The two teams met in round 2 last year and Richmond came out of the blocks fast and pretty much had the game in the bag by quarter time where they led by 23 points. They increased the lead to 31 by half time and then held on grimly by 12 points as Carlton pressed them hard in the 4th quarter.
on the form of 2014 it’s hard to see anything other than a convincing win by the Tigers but the longer term record between the two teams gives Carlton a definite look in. They have beaten Richmond in 8 of their last 10 meetings with the two occasions the Tigers came out ahead by just 12 (last year) and 5 points.
The team totals of those 10 games suggest there will be lots of goals.
184, 212, 202, 207, 207, 186, 206, 265, 189, 223, 184.
That’s an average of 206 so with the total line set at around 177.5 the overs looks a great bet to kick the season off with.
We’ll also go with a Richmond win, but a narrow one.
