We had a quiet time of it last week but are straight into the action this Friday night when Collingwood play North Melbourne at Etihad.
Collingwood looked like complete basket cases in the first half of the home and away season but wins over the Dockers (hmm), Blues (hmm) and the Giants have given Nathan Buckley and his team a bit of optimism.
North, as we know, started the year off with nine straight wins and I was certainly not alone in predicting their slump in form from round 10 as it was always very possible with their schedule getting much more testing.
North were not a top two team on their nine game winning run, but nor are they a bottom eight team now.
Fiveish goal losses to the Cats, Crows, West Coast and Port with a narrow loss to the Hawks thrown in for good measure suggest that North have totally lost their form. I don’t think this is the case. They won the 2nd half against Port last week and topped the inside 50 and scoring shot counts for the match, and also in their loss to the Hawks.
The odds say this game is just about a coin toss but on their superior average level of form this year, and with the game at Etihad, North should be favourites for my money.
North went off as 18.5 point favourites last week versus Port. Port > Collingwood.
