We’ve reached that time of year when it’s important to get our priorities right – family, the turkey, Jesus, presents are all just going to have to wait until we get on the plethora of bets we’ve got for Boxing day, below.
Aston Villa v BURTON ALBION
The odds for Burton are a fair reflection of these two teams’ relative worth, but that doesn’t quite equate to their merits in performances. Burton are due a break and, while Villa should be able to put such a side to the sword, this
Blackburn are more competitive these days under Owen Coyle, though you might not think so from results. Barnsley score and concede a lot of goals, seem more effective away than at home, and could give Rovers a sniff of a chance here. Take them at $3.50with
Brentford v CARDIFF
Brentford seem unsettled, and Cardiff could go and make the most of that. They’re definitely more resilient under Neil Warnock than they were, and are fancied to shade this one if they can see out the first half an hour. $3.70with
Preston v LEEDS
Leeds could have Chris Wood back up front – they’ve missed the Kiwi of late – and will be looking to win this one. Forgive them the poor recent showing at Brighton when they had a man sent off early. We like them at $3.37 at
ROTHERHAM v Wigan
Home bet for a change here. Two of the poorer teams in the division battle it out. There isn’t much between them; Rotherham have really dominated some good opponents at home, albeit unsuccessfully, and are favoured at $3.15 at
Bradford v SCUNTHORPE
I’m surprised to see the league leaders so big for this one, especially as the Bantams have been misfiring a bit. Take Scunny at $3.5at
Bristol Rovers v COVENTRY
Coventry as a club are in all sorts of trouble which are attracting more attention than their football. Hardly surprising as it’s not been great, but they’ll benefit from Russell Slade’s introduction. Beating Rovers is not beyond them and at $4.33with , we’re on.
Oxford v NORTHAMPTON
It’s hard to establish firm opinions about teams with such fluctuating results, but Northampton are competitive in most of their games. The $4.07 at about them does not suggest this, so that’s where our money lies.
