There’s so much about this Tuesday in the Championship to distract us that there’s no time to dwell on what might have been at the weekend. And there might have been a good bit if i’d had the bottle to back Brentford at Brighton and Birmingham at Fulham, but never mind.
One of the challenges of the Sat-Tues-Sat weeks is keeping up with information and not over-estimating the most recent event just because it’s so close behind. The bookies certainly aren’t guilty of that on this occasion, marking up juicy prices for surprise over-performers Barnsley, Burton Albion, and just about every other away team in the programme, despite some damning results for home favourites at the weekend – like the two that we missed just mentioned. We’re backing them to let their fans down again, as they were truly awful on Saturday and it’s right to remain sceptical about teams’ apparent virtues at this early stage – consistency wasn’t earned in a few weeks in any sport.
To these then, and it’s pretty hair-raising to be backing nearly every away in the programme, but they are the value and that’s our game, so here goes:
