We hit two out of four for a partial return on our weekly multi last weekend. We are siding with five selections here.
These multi bets will not be recorded for profit/loss records, although we are theoretically in front so far. Hopefully we’ll get all selections up at some point for a nice win for anyone following.
Swansea to beat Sunderland $2.10
Watford to beat Southampton $2.75
Wayne Rooney to score $1.90
West Brom +0.5 goals vs Chelsea $2.43
Arsenal to beat Liverpool $1.74
Swansea are very likely winners over Sunderland. The Swans have looked good in their first two games, firstly against Chelsea when they were unlucky not to come away with all three points and then in a convincing 2-0 win over Newcastle. Sunderland are a total mess with the leakiest of all leaky defences and I can see Swansea, with the superb Montero running at them, scoring at least twice which should be more than enough.
Watford are a value price to beat Southampton who are starting to show the effects of losing so many quality players over the last 18 months against Everton last week.
I would have been keen to oppose the Saints this week anyway but i’m doubly keen with them having drawn in the Europa Cup on Thursday.
Man Utd played in midweek too but, unlike Southampton, they have the depth of squad to cope with these early season European matches.
Wayne Rooney came in for plenty of criticism last week and he’ll be desperate to get on the scoresheet against Newcastle, a team that he’s scored 12 times against for Man Utd, with 7 assists.
Rooney is going through a lean spell but every striker goes through these periods and his goal scoring record stands up to the closest scrutiny. He has 170 goals in 314 starts (28 sub) which puts him firmly in the goal every two games category.
The criticism should mean that Rooney looks to shoot at every opportunity and this could make his anytime scorer odds a bit of value.
I can see West Brom getting a result at home to Chelsea, something they’ve done in this fixture in each of the last four seasons with three wins and a draw. The mood at Chelsea appears toxic at the moment with Mourinho acting increasingly eccentrically. The asian handicap line of +0.5 goals is the safest route at odds of around $2.43 which would see us getting a full payout with a win or a draw for the Baggies.
The last bet in the multi, and one which we can all watch at 5am Tuesday morning to complete the full house, is Arsenal to beat Liverpool.
Liverpool are one of our ante post bets at $29 and i’m pleased they have won their first two games. They’ve not looked convincing at all however and their record against the top 5 since 2010/11 of W3-D6-L15 means they should be opposed here. Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson is a doubt and him missing out will not help their cause against the Arsenal midfield.
A $1 multi bet covering all options costs $26 and all five winning would return $305 at quoted odds.
