The opening match of Euro 2016 sees hosts and pre tournament favourites, France, take on Romania with kick off scheduled for 5am Saturday morning.
If you’ve read our Euro 2016 posts thus far you’ll know we are keen on France to win the tournament so it stands to reason that we should look to France winning their opener.
A lot will depend on how Romania approach this match as to how it pans out. If they come out simply looking for a draw – and they’ve drawn six of their last 10 fixtures – France could struggle to break them down. If they come and try and win the game it could be an open affair with plenty of goals.
What I think – and hope – will happen is France get an early goal, forcing Romania to attack more if they opt for the former approach. If this happens we should see goals. France have been banging them in recently, scoring 13 times in their last four matches, while Romania have seen as many goals scored in their last two games combined.
France are too short to back to win and i’m not keen on 1.5 goal asian handicaps so with goals looking likely we’ll go with the over/under 2.5 goals market for a bet and a stab at the correct score.
