I’ve been champing at the bit for the last month to get stuck into some Football League bets of my own and I planned to start on the weekend of October 1st with my best bets across the Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2 with some A League bets probably chucked in when that league gets up and running.
All that said, I couldn’t resist firing up the pricing model for the Championship matches tonight and time will tell whether that was a good idea as it’s thrown up five decent looking bets. I’m hoping that @bparkprophecies doesn’t oppose any of my bets.
Barnsley vs Aston Villa
My numbers strongly favour the home team here and given Barnsley have won five of their opening nine matches and Villa just one it should not be a surprise. Villa are no doubt being priced up on reputation rather than anything they’ve achieved this season.
1 unit Barnsley at $3.22 with
Blackburn vs Sheff Wed
I have Blackburn’s home rating at 16.6 and Wednesday’s away rating at 15.7 suggesting this should be a close match. My odds for a home win are closer to $2.90 than the $3.45 available.
1 unit Blackburn at $3.45 with
Burton vs QPR
This looks like a case of pricing on reputation again with QPR who are 16th in the table, two places and two points above Burton.
1 unit Burton at $2.75 with
Ipswich vs Brighton
Ipswich are unbeaten at home. Brighton have won one from 4 away. I have them rated very closely and my odds own a home win are $3.0.
Newcastle beat QPR 6-0 away from home a few weeks ago and they were universally hailed as runaway winners of the Championship. They followed this up with a home loss to Wolves and a draw at Villa. Meanwhile, Norwich are top of said Championship table, four points clear of the Magpies.
