I think we can be forgiven for not finding Davis Love III at 1000/1 last week at the Wyndham in what turned out to be a bookies benefit event.

We will be looking to the form at the Wyndham for this weeks analysis however as both courses are Donald Ross designed and with Plainfield having undergone many changes we are guessing a little as to how much the 2011 event played here will be relevant.

Course: Plainfield Country Club, Edison, New Jersey

Course Architect: Donald Ross (1916), Gil Hanse (1999)

Par: 70

Yardage: 7,012

Acres of fairway: 28

Greens: Poa annua; average size: 7,500 sq. ft.

Stimp: 11.5 ft.

We cannot desert ‘operation Brooks Koepka‘ just yet after his 6th placed finish last week which took his recent form figures to 10, 18, 6, 5, 6.

His driving distance(7th), ball striking (15th) and putting (SGP 8th), GIR (9th) and scoring average (3rd) are all top notch and it’s only driving accuracy that lets him down. His GIR and scoring average numbers indicate that his lack of direction off the tee are not a huge disadvantage to his overall game.

Jim Furyk has been his usual consistent self in 2015 with five top 5’s and a win. He normally goes well at this time of the year and will be extra keen to do well at the playoffs in a year when none of the Major courses will have suited his ‘steady eddie’ type of approach. His record on Ross designed courses is solid with top form at East Lake and Oak Hill to his name.

Bill Haas caught the eye last week at the Wyndham with rounds of 65, 66, 68 and 67. He has won six times on the PGA Tour and looks overpriced at his current odds.

Justin Thomas shot a final round 75 to take himself out of the top 20 last week but his opening three rounds of 67, 68 and 66 showed that he is holding his form well. I’d probably follow him off a cliff at this point so I can’t disagreed him now at big odds.

Ben Martin finished 10th last week with rounds of 67, 67, 67 and 68 and this form coupled with some decent performances in the bigger events on tour in 2015, including a 4th placed finish at the Players, gives us hope of a huge priced winner this week in Ben Martin.

I could be accused of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted with this bet and i’m still annoyed at missing William McGirt for first round leader last week when he tied for 1st at the Wyndham.

All that said he still looks over the odds here.
