Zach Johnson is coming into form in what looks like a perfectly timed run for the Masters (the $101 e/w with Sportsbet is a fair bet for a past champion despite the course now favouring the bigger hitters).

He was the best player last week over the last two rounds despite a double bogey at 8 and bogies on 17 and 18 in the final round. It’s usually wise to ignore players dropping shots on the back 9 on Sundays when they are out of contention, or desperately looking for birdies to get in the mix, as Johnson was.

Brendan Steele won this event in 2011 and cites this as his favourite event.

He had a nice combination of solid driving distance (12th) and driving accuracy (t35) stats last week where he finished 35th at Bay Hill. He had a couple of double bogies on Sunday which cost him a top 20 finish.

I’m giving Martin Laird another chance this week as we know he can get a hot putter, has won around here and his tied 5th and 13th in driving accuracy and driving distance last week prove he’s hitting the ball well.

Shane Lowry should take great confidence in the way he’s started his PGA Tour career with three top 25’s in his last four starts. He finished 15th here on debut in 2013.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat had a glittering junior career with wins at the World Junior Championships in 2003 and 2004 and has won on both the Asian Tour and European Tour.

He was brilliant at times last week shooting 30 on the front 9 in round three and putting two birdies on the card in round 4. He led putts per GIR and strokes gained putting.
