The TPC Blue Monster course at Doral, near Miami, awaits a shortened field of 75 players this week.

New father (nappy factor alert) Adam Scott will be trying out a conventional putter in his first start for a while. His putting has been bad with the long stick recently so I think he’s doing the right thing.

Long hitters are favoured here at probably the toughest non-major course of the year.

This long par 72 should be right up Dustin’s street and he now looks ready to win after his 6 month break from the sport. He ranked 1st in driving distance in this event last year when he finished 4th and with a bit more luck he could well have won the tournament.

Bubba Watson, like Dustin Johnson, always has to be considered on long par 72’s and his current form figures of 10-2-14 allied to course form of 2-18-2 make him an obvious pick here.

Jimmy Walker’s form has gone off the boil just a little in his past two tournaments but he’s had a week off to freshen up and averaging over 300 yards driving and in the top 10 in strokes gained putting he has the game to win here.

Keegan ‘ol’ twitchy’ Bradley looked to be coming into form with recent figures of 17-41-4 before a missed cut last week and with two top 10’s in his last three starts at this event he looks likely to contend this week. His missed cut has pushed his odds out a little so we’ll take our chances with him.

Martin Kaymer looks overpriced this week at his current odds. He finished 3rd here in 2010 and two top 5’s in his last three starts.

Another player selected, like Kaymer, on odds alone is Hunter Mahan. His current form is nothing to write home about with figures of 30-54-20 but he finished 9th here last year and in 2011.
