A big fat ZERO in the returns column for our MLS bets last weekend which is never nice. The stats for a couple of the games, however, tell me the bets were good, despite the results.
Take a look at the numbers below. The top match is San Jose vs Toronto where the away team who we backed at over 3/1 had 22 shots to San Jose’s 8 and the bottom match is Columbus vs DC United. 16 shots to 7 and 13 corners to 2 to our 4/1+ bet.
Corners are an often misleading stat in the respect that only around one goal comes from every 30 odd corners (i did the numbers over 5 EPL seasons a while ago) but I still like to see my teams getting plenty of them as it shows they are attacking, which is what we want.
Enough of all that.
We’ve got three bets this weekend, two tomorrow and one on Monday. The Monday game – live on BEiN Sports – is the New York Red Bulls against New York City and regular readers will recall that we backed NYCFC when they lost to the Red Bull’s 7-0 but got ample revenge (at $2.95) when City beat their local rivals a couple of weeks later. This is the first home fixture for the Red Bulls but this should suit City as they have the best away record in the competition with six wins from ten road fixtures.
