Skeeter is otherwise disposed this week so i’ve got PGA Championship tipping duties and it’s a tournament that i’ve had some success at with winning punts on Keegan Bradley and YE Yang at 200/1+.
My strategy for finding those winners was to look back at the PGA Tour season and back the players at triple figure odds that were banging on the door and regularly contending during that season. The difference here is the tournament has moved from its regular August date to May. Still, we’ll stick with the methodology and see what happens.
Firstly though I have Skeeter’s bets and all of these will be 1 unit at the quoted Betfair odds:
Schauffelle at $32
Finau at $44
Wise at $230
Im at $460
Hatton at $360
Niemann at $850
The player that has impressed the most in recent months just has to be Francisco Molinari. He won the Open Championship in 2018 then followed it up by winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, then going so close to winning the Masters last month. His capitulation over the last 6 holes does not concern me at all. Shit happens.
1 unit win at $32 on Betfair
Next up is another player who has been knocking on the door on the PGA Tour in recent weeks, namely Joel Dahmen. He has three top 20’s in his last six starts including a 2nd place finish in his last tournament when just edged out by Max Homa.
0.5 units win at $370 on Betfair
1 unit top 10 at $20+ Betfair (no liquidity yet but should get $25)
The next two players im backing are the two that have impressed me most in recent months on the European Tour.
Justin Harding was ranked 716 in the world at the start of 2018 and he’s now ranked 47 but it’s not just the meteoric rise that has caught my eye but also his game when in contention. He takes no backwards steps on Sunday when there or thereabouts and his win in Qatar and 2nd in Kenya were followed up by t17 at the World Matchplay, t12 at the Masters and t10 last week at the Byron Nelson (with two missed cuts in there too).
I’m convinced he’s win something very decent and it may just be this week.
1 unit at $290 on Betfair
1 unit at $19 top 10 on Betfair
Next up we have a player whose last 6 finishes read: 2, 2, 20, 3, 1, 3. Nope not Rory, or Rose or DJ but Spaniard Jorge Campillo who hadn’t won before he did just that a few weeks back on the European Tour and almost backed it up the very next week in China when he traded at sub $1.30 with a few holes to go.
Campillo is a HUGE $480 on Betfair and that’s where i’ve backed him but if you can get on with Unibet at the 1st 7 places 1/5 the odds at $350 for one unit each way then get stuck in.
