Welcome to the Bet Detective page on OddyOddyOddy!
On this page I’ll be previewing select matches from the Championship, League 1, League 2 and the A League. I might even look at some matches from other sub standard leagues like the English Premier League from time to time.
It’s not often you get a chance to back a home team at bigger than 2/1 that:
Well, you can with BURNLEY in the early kick-off on Saturday. They play top of the table Leicester who despite also being in great form have only drawn 2 of their previous 3 away games.
For the next bet we move from a team unbeaten at home all season to a team that have won once away from home since the start of October and have not scored in their last 5 aways. Sounds ideal doesn’t it?
Doncaster are that team in their visit to local rivals Leeds. Donny are a massively improved team since the start of March, winning 3 and drawing 1 of their past 6 matches and can be forgiven losing to Burnley in their last away match.
The improved recent form from Donny combined with the turmoil going on at Leeds – the players didn’t get paid in full this week as they teetered with going into administration – and the poor recent form of Leeds (won 1 of last 6) makes Doncaster a tidy looking bet at $4.20 with BET365.COM.AU
Other Championship games of interest. I quite like Bolton to beat Wigan in a clash of 2 vastly improved teams but Wigan’s away record of 4 wins from their last 5 puts me off a bit and also Sheffield Wednesday to beat Watford.
Sheffield Wednesday are another much improved side and face a Watford team who haven’t won in their past 12 away matches. They have drawn 9 of their 18 aways though so that has to be taken into consideration.
I’m keen on Swindon to beat Sheffield United at home.
Swindon look to be coming out of a severe dip in form – they only won once in February – as they have won their last 2 matches, away at Tranmere and home against away specialists Preston (they had only lost 2 away in 19 before that match).
It seems to me that odds compilers have got themselves a tad carried away with Sheffield United’s recent improvement in form (won 4 of last 6 and 4 of last 5 away) because despite this improvement they have failed to manage double figure shots stats in 5 of their last 6 aways.
If, as it looks, Swindon are returning to something like their early season form then they are decent value to win this match. They have won 11 from 19 at home while Sheffield Utd have won 5 from 19 away.
This should be a tight match and i would not put anyone off backing 1-0 to Swindon either at $8.50 with UNIBET.COM.AU
Other League 1 matches of interest:
I quite like Oldham to beat Brentford at big odds. Brentford have faltered a bit away from home recently and have scored just once in their last 3 away from home. Oldham are $4.0 with BET365.COM.AU
MK Dons at home to Wolves and Shrewsbury away at Walsall are also worth a look.
Fourth placed Fleetwood welcome table toppers Rochdale both teams take solid recent form into the match.
I favour Fleetwood here mainly because of Rochdale’s shots data in their recent away matches. They have averaged 7.5 shots with 4 on target in those matches, scoring 6 times in the process. They will start to struggle to win games if they keep up with those sorts of numbers, especially against a team like Fleetwood who have scored 3 in each of their last 2 home games.
Fleetwood are a best priced $2.80 with BET365.COM.AU
